2023To support the research strategy of the Botton-Champalimaud Pancreatic Cancer Centre (BCPCC) by working efficiently and effectively with BCPCC Directors and key stakeholders to co-ordinate people and processes to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.

Main duties will include

  • Develop detailed project plans in coordination with senior management to deliver projects ontime that are within operational scope and budget.
  • Develop and monitor multiyear project budgets, project timelines and scope of deliverables.
  • Ensure project governance is carried out in accordance with formal documentation and reporting.
  • Organise and lead regular project team meetings to ensure appropriate resource allocation and timely completion of tasks.
  • Analyse, plan and track project activities, communicating progress on a regular basis to all relevant stakeholders, including maintaining meeting minutes, timelines and shared documentation.
  • Ensure project files are maintained to support Quality System Regulation requirements.
  • Identify and efficiently resolve issues and risks to stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Track estimated project costs and provide budget updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop positive relationships with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Identify areas of capital spend required to maintain or improve services to the research groups and Cancer Centre as a whole.
  • Ensuring procurement of general laboratory equipment and reagents in accordance with BCPCC policies in close liaison with Finance, Stores and research groups.
  • Liaison with Research groups in determining their needs to progress research and assisting with addressing issues within their lab areas.
  • Management of contracts with suppliers around core equipment maintenance contracts.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Strong scientific knowledge with a good understanding of basic, translational and/or clinical research desirable.
  • Experience in managing research projects in either the basic research, diagnostic and/or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Excellent understanding of Project Management principles, concepts practices and standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a proven ability to deliver projects ontime, within scope and within budget.
  • Experience in developing and managing research budgets, contracting and financial controls.
  • Strong presentation skills including communicating to senior stakeholders. Ability to create and lead a highly motivated team to deliver successful projects.
  • Trackrecord in building strong and trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing service contracts and working with external contractor providers.
  • Experience in procurement processes and managing external reps to maximise value in equipment, consumable, and reagent purchases.
  • IT
literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, digital project and team management tools for communication, project tracking and reporting.

  • Experience in engaging with technical teams to ensure effective completion of projects.
Desirable

  • Proficient in both English and Portuguese
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirement e.g., GLP, GMP and/or IVDR) in an academic research of industry setting.
  • Experience with document management systems.
  • Experience with conducting internal audits.
