José Rodrigues

Hi there! My name is José, and I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto.

I recently completed my undergraduate degree in microbiology at Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, where I gained hands on experience in research labs and chemistry lab, including process development and optimization. 

During my studies I completed an internship at CBQF where I was able to assist in experiments, perform lab tests and analyze data. I gained hands-on experience in wetlab techniques, including growing bacteria, performing purification processes, and also working with cell culture. This experience helped me develop a strong understanding of microbiological techniques and their practical applications. Additionally I gained skills in drafting scientific reports and presenting my findings to the team. 

Microbiology is my passion, and I am excited to start my career in this field. I believe that my internship experience, chemistry/microbiology lab work and eagerness to learn make me a strong candidate for any entry level microbiology position. 

Currently, the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology mater's degree have provided me with valuable skills in data analysis, programming and statistical analysis (and still is).

Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to work in a variety of industries and gain valuable skills along the way. I started my career working in the food industry at Pizzaria Divina Gula, where I honed my customer service and teamwork skills.

From there, I transitioned to the manufacturing sector, joining Valdemar Sá, S.A., a cork factory, where I spent two years as a machine operator. This experience gave me a deep understanding of the manufacturing process and the importance of attention to detail in producing high-quality products.

Following my time at Valdemar Sá, S.A., I joined Reference River, S.A., another cork enterprise, as a machine operator. In this role, I had the opportunity to further develop my technical skills, working with complex machinery and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

In addition, I completed a six-month internship at CBQF, where I was able to gain hands-on experience in microbiological techniques and present my findings to the team. This experience further solidified my passion for microbiology and my desire to pursue a career in this field.

Overall, my diverse work experience has equipped me with strong communication, problem-solving, and technical skills, which I believe make me a valuable asset to any team.

I hold a degree in Microbiology from Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, where I gained a deep understanding of microbiological principles and techniques, celular biology, chemestry and critical thinking.

Currently, I am pursuing a Master's degree in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto, where I am learning to use computational tools to analyze biological data and gain insights into complex biological systems.
