Kanya Thavanesan

Hello, I am originally from London, United Kingdom, and I have recently moved to Lisbon, Portugal. I am a hard-worker, love to work as part of a team and as an individual, which is showcased in my previous job as Workshop Assistant at Petit Miracles. I love to take on new tasks, as I wish to grow in a company, and gain as many skills as possible, as I believe there's always more new things to learn. 

After graduating, I worked at Petit Miracles, where I worked as a Workshop Assistant to upcycle furniture as well as teach classes to vulnerable adults. I also led volunteers and taught paid customers. Through this role, I learned how to be empathetic towards people in different situations and provide them with opportunities to have more control over their lives. Additionally, I gained experience in bespoke work for clients, which taught me the importance of open communication. I also managed the outcomes spreadsheet and was able to take the initiative of doing outreach into organizations that could take part in the traineeships of upcycling, which helped me understand the importance of meeting targets.

I also have work experience in accountancy from Kugan & Co., where I helped input invoices for small to medium-sized companies and used software to keep track of client cases.

I graduated from Imperial College London with a Masters in Design Engineering in June 2022 and was awarded an Upper Second Class with Honours. During my time there, I gained experience working in teams and leading projects. For example, my team won the opportunity to be in the Dyson School of Design Engineering Summer Show.
