Cover Letter

I am Maria Monteiro, a Portuguese product designer with a master's in drawing and a post-graduation in Ux-Ui design.

I started my path in design by studying product design at Fine Arts College at the University of Lisbon. After my degree, I decided to take a master's in drawing because in my opinion drawing is a crucial tool for the exploration of design. I wrote a thesis that bonds the design and the drawing named: "Sketch: the search for shape in design." where I explain this relationship in an extended way.

At Fine Arts College in product design, we were taught to use design thinking methods to create a piece that improves the user's life and that’s what I do every day at my job. I am the product and graphic designer of a consulting company and I work with national and international art projects, and I do branding for national and international companies. I am more than a designer because I am the manager of all design projects at this company, I took the projects from the beginning to the end.

There has been an evolution in the design thinking area and I wanted to actualize it. With the technological changes in the world and a new name for that area, in November 2023 I decided to take a post-graduation in Ux-Ui design. After intense months of experience with real clients, I realized that everything that I studied at the university and everything that I do every day at my work is so useful in Ux-Ui design and that the design process is the same.

My work is for the users and that preoccupation is the same for me as a product, graphic, or Ux-Ui designer, so now I am searching for a Ux-Ui design opportunity. With my five years of experience in product design, where I use the same methods, my solid academic education, and my organization I can be an added value to a UX/UI team.

I have a bachelor's degree in product design and a master's in drawing from the same university - Fine Arts College, university of Lisbon.
I also have a post-graduation in Ux-Ui design from EDIT, Lisbon.
