PRIMARY DUTIES:


50%- Financial Accounting and Reporting Management, including financial control / compliance

  • Lead, develop and manage NA Record to Report Team to meet its monthly, quarterly and annual accounting, reporting and compliance obligations & objectives.
  • Ensure accurate Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearend accounts preparation of North America/Corporate entities and businesses, in compliance with USGAAP and HB Fuller internal company policies and procedures.
  • Deliver timeliness set in collaboration with GFS Directors/Managers and Corporate Controlling function, as well as other functions.
  • Ensure that all Financial Statements give a true and fair view of company's business. Oversee and control all accounting entries of accounting staff.
  • Develop and maintain accounting and financial controls to ensure accuracy, compliance and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain SOX and other compliance obligations at all time. Drive for efficient, effective, accountable execution.
  • Harmonize and optimize systems and accounting conventions (COA, cost centre hierarchy, etc).
  • Ensure deep understanding and compliance of HBF policies across the team and with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support RtR Financial Controlling team understanding of the P&L main drivers for actual reporting as well as for Outlooks & Forecasts
  • Actively manage the US GAAP Audit process.

30% - Execute transition projects, drive optimization and continuous improvement of Record to report processes and systems

  • As required, support the execution of acquisitions & integrations, transition, transformation and continuous improvement projects
  • Ongoing development of ERP and accounting systems with the objective of simplifying and standardizing the accounting structure and enhancing accuracy of the financial information.
  • Support the Harmonization and Implementation of Finance Information Systems and Internal Controls.
  • Collaborate to develop plans for process harmonization and improvement opportunities, supported by business cases and drive, coordinate their implementation.

20% - Develop, organize and strengthen the RTR Team

  • Lead the NA RTR organizational design/development, promoting a highperformance culture, professional expertise and finance career development/training.
  • Support, develop and retain Accounting / Reporting Team to achieve professional excellence and a highperformance culture.
  • Ensure ongoing training and sharing of best practices within team and with local (non Mindelo) finance teams. Provide oversight and backup for local finance teams when required by the circumstances.
  • Manage recruitment activities, manage performance problems, coach and mentor employees, complete required HR processes.
  • Share best practices with all entities in the Region.

EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED:


  • Approximately 8 staff direct reporting (and ~ 3 indirect)
  • Chief accountants primarily. Indirectly financial control analysts, compliance, intercompany and fixed asset accountants.

BUDGETARY/FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY:


  • Geographical scope: North America
  • Approximately 27 legal entities
  • ERP System: SAP & Adage
  • Responsible for managing resources and budget for NA RTR Process team

Minimum Requirements:


  • At least 5 years of professional financial/accounting management
  • Degree and professional qualification in accounting (eg CPA or equivalent), Finance or related field; and/or MBA
  • Strong accounting technical background
  • Experience of multinational companies or Share Service Center
  • Experience in Acquisitions and Integration of companies/business
  • Strong hands on USGAAP (or IFRS) experience and knowledge
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Deep knowledge and experience of ERP (ideally SAP), Hyperion (or equivalent) and other financial accounting and reporting tools
  • Knowledge of SOX, compliance and internal controls related with Financial Reporting
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Databases etc
  • Organized, Accountable, Motivated, Professional and Analytical Skills
  • Independent, Proactive with strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective credible working relationship with colleagues inside and outside of finance.
  • Ability to lead, solve problems and communicate at all levels.
  • Availability to travel

  • Demonstrate experience of delivering finance systems improvements
