This position is located in
Porto, Portugal but will be required to travel to the Switzerland HQ quite often.


POSITION BACKGROUND


Following our recent growth we are looking to hire a financial controller whose role will be to oversee accounting operations and build out the department and processes.

The role will be bringing expertise in accounting standards and processes in house to the company. There will be an opportunity to grow and build alongside the company.

The additional resource will be responsible for the following areas and activities:

  • Global Accounting / Reporting / Internal Control
  • Global Tax Compliance

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Operations / Reporting / Internal Controls

  • Handson profile, supporting and collaborating with the finance team with the monthly accounting tasks.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, billing, and collections.
  • Execution and coordination of monthly close accounting routines for the holding and subsidiaries.
  • Management of group wide cash funds in multiple currencies, including monthly bank account reconciliations.
  • Delivery of accurate, reliable and timely information to Operations and Finance Manager, Board of Directors, Investors and CEO.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and local regulations.
  • Migration to internationally recognised accounting standards (IFRS,)
  • Management of payroll process in collaboration with HR and external consultants ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for each subsidiary.
  • Management of tax recognition and recoverability supported by the tax advisors for the holding and subsidiaries entities (Swiss, UK, US, and VN).
  • Development and maintenance of appropriate systems and internal controls, including development of accounting policies, such as revenue recognition and R&D capitalization.
  • Maintenance of suitable financial controls to ensure compliance across global finance functions.
  • Preparation of consolidated financial statements, including profit & loss, cash flows, and balance sheet.
  • Management of the annual audit process.
  • Preparation of consolidated budgets, forecasts, and cash flows including monitoring performance and variance analysis.
  • Monitor project budgets and costs, working closely with project managers to track expenses, analyse profitability, and identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Manage all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including Operations, Sales and HR to support the business operations.

Global Tax Compliance

  • Ensuring compliance with administrative duties related to filings in various countries.
  • Managing adhoc projects with Big 4 consultants to ensure global tax compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:


  • Accounting certification (ACCA, CPA or equivalent) strictly required.
  • Degree in finance/accounting/administration or related topic.
  • Controllership and Finance MBA (desirable)

Professional experience:


  • Proven experience of +10 years in an accounting/ auditing / Controllership role working with international firms.

DESIRED SKILLS AND JOB-RELATED DEMANDS

  • Fluent in English speaking & writing (mandatory)
  • French language skills are a plus but not mandatory
  • Working Knowledge in the accounting departments and financial statements
  • Experience in transfer pricing projects is a plus
  • Experience with ERP, Netsuite, Oracle or similar is a plus
  • Advanced command of Excel. Knowledge of PowerBI is a plus
  • Experience with managerial reporting to multiple stakeholders
  • Analytical and methodical, with great attention to detail and accuracy
