BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for "dynamic, results driven" individual to join as Product Failure Analysis Lab Technician at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.

Key Accountabilities:

Identify and analyse electrical defects
Participate in multidisciplinary teams to identify and solve problems
Contact development or external labs to identify the root cause
Testing of largescale structures and components in simulated service conditions
Static tension/compression testing
Support customer returns, qualifications, and other engineering evaluations that require failure analysis
Perform nondestructive analysis such as optical visual inspection and microscopy
Perform destructive analysis such as soldering/desoldering, lead conditioning, deballing/reballing, mechanical/chemical decapsulation, package/die level deprocessing, crosssectioning, and other FA techniques available in the laboratory
Perform electrical verification using curve tracer and basic bench testing
Perform open/short full failure analysis with guidance
Perform fault isolation procedures with guidance
Execute die level physical failure analysis procedures with guidance
Work closely with FA engineer and customer to meet and improve the response time
Meet and drive improvements on failure analysis key performance indicators
May develop and implement new failure analysis methods if necessary
Observe proper and responsible use of all FA laboratory equipment, hardware's, consumables, and workstations and report any problem encountered timely
FA focal person responsible in tools/equipment 5S and improvements and coordination with equipment group for consumables & spare parts procurements, repair, and maintenance
Comply with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental prevention standards
Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule
Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules.
Respect and comply with environmental policy rules
Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which he was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it, for the period necessary for the said needs or conveniences of service.

Education & Experience

Secondary education in a related technical area
Preferably higher education courses related to electronic or electrical area
Basic understanding of failure analysis flow
Basic knowledge and skill in performing nondestructive and destructive FA techniques
Basic knowledge and skill in operating failure analysis tools and equipment
Basic knowledge of basic semiconductor Fab, Assembly and Test process flow
Basic knowledge in electrical testing and datalog interpretation
Basic skill in physical failure techniques
Knowhow in electronic circuit
Knowledge in manual welding
Solid computer skills at the user level
Good vision and dexterity
Able to extract, analyze, and report data as necessary
Can collaborate with crossfunctional and crosscultural teams
Can understand and follow more complex procedures and instructions
Availability for the afternoon shift (14h22h)
Availability to travel

Fluent in English
Fluent in Portuguese
