- Design and engineer mechanical systems, as well as size and select appropriate machinery, equipment and parts, ensuring constructability, efficiency, reliability, availability, operability, maintainability and cost-effectiveness.
- Establish and enforce general, design and mechanical specifications throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate, and facilitate the interface, with engineers from other disciplines to integrate mechanical systems into the overall design.
- Act as the primary point of contact with EPCMs and manage the relevant aspects of the projects with them
- Review all mechanical drawings, datasheets, specifications and lists.
- Participate in the establishment of requirements, technical clarifications and adjudications, reviews, expediting and tracking of all vendor supplied mechanical equipment, plant and material.
- Establish and enforce quality control standards and inspection procedures for the manufacture of all mechanical components to meet specifications, safety and performance criteria.
- Conduct regular inspections and testing during manufacture, construction and commissioning to identify and address any mechanical issues.
- Provide technical support to the Project, Construction and Commissioning teams during the installation and commissioning of mechanical equipment, ensuring that installations align with design specifications.
- BSc/ MSc degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering roles focused on industrial facilities, manufacturing, or similar projects.
- Understanding of interdependent disciplines, such as civil and electrical, and familiarity with equipment/ parts design.
- Proven track record of designing the mechanical portion of an industrial plant under strict timelines.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety standards, ensuring that mechanical designs and systems adhere to industry-specific regulations and requirements.
- Strong technical skills in materials, manufacturing, quality, and product/equipment design.
- Experience with hydrometallurgy and mineral processing is preferable.
- Collaboration and communication abilities to work effectively with other project stakeholders.
- To be able to work entirely in English.
