About St


Julian's School:

We are a highly successful, non-selective 3-18 British international school with a reputation for academic excellence, founded in 1932. We currently have just over 1,200 students from over 50 different nationalities.


The School has three sections:
Primary, Secondary, and Portuguese.


In Primary and Secondary sections the students follow the National Curriculum for England leading to IGCSEs and the IB Diploma.

In the Portuguse the study follow a bilungual curriculum.


We have been accredited by CIS (Council of International Schools) and NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges) since 1998, we are an Accredited Member of COBIS and our Head is an International Member of HMC (Heads' Conference).

We are conveniently located within walking distance of Carcavelos train station, with direct access to central Lisbon and Cascais.


Key responsibilities:


  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including staff, students, parents, and community members
  • Manage the Head's calendar, scheduling appointments and coordinating meetings as needed
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for the Head of School
  • Manage and organise the Head of School's office, including filing, records management and supply management
  • Assist the Head of School with administrative tasks as needed, such as preparing reports, presentations and documents
  • Translate documents and correspondence to and from English and Portuguese
  • From time to time to work with other Support Staff on tasks requested by the Head
  • Assist in organising arrangements for meetings of the Board of Governors
  • Take minutes for meetings that the Head chairs.

Personal qualities:


  • Fluency in English and Portuguese is required
  • Ability to work in a highly fastpaced environment
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Highly IT proficient, with specific experience of Microsoft Office and Google suite
  • Excellent communicator and calm under pressure
  • Highly personable with all stakeholders (staff, students, parents, governing body)
  • Diplomatic and discreet with high levels of personal and professional integrity
  • Selfstarter, ability to work independently, use initiative to carry out daytoday tasks
  • Ability to work with multiple teams, with a flexible and collaborative approach
  • Ability to stay focused and meet deadlines and targets, despite multiple distractions arising from a busy school environment
  • Good sense of humor.


This is a full-time position and the Personal Assistant to the Head of School will be expected to work standard business hours, with some evening and weekend work as needed.

Some travel may be required.
