The Finance team at Marley Spoon is growing and we are now looking for an exceptional
Accountant for the US entity to join a multinational accounting team spread over Europe, Australia, and the United States.

What you will do:


This is a hands-on role that will support all areas of the business and senior leadership for the US segment of Marley Spoon.

While the focus of your role will be accounting for our US component, you will interact with business partners across the US regional team to achieve this.


Expected tasks will include:

  • Support the accounting leadership team in owning the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing activities of the US segment, including contributing to the preparation of consolidated financial statements (IFRS) and statutory financial statements
  • Post accruals, release prepayments and perform other month end closing tasks
  • Account for fixed asset transactions, including purchases, disposals and depreciation expense
  • Account for payroll transactions, importing expense and payment data from ADP into our ERP
  • Account for external longterm debt transactions including debt acquisition costs, repayments, and accrued interest expense impacts
  • Import bank transaction data and review that transactions match in nature and amounts per our ERP
  • Process and review team members' expenses/reimbursements, ensuring the details are right, accompanied by appropriate supporting documentation, and are in compliance with the Company's Travel & Expense policy
  • Support and guide our AP team for registering invoices (First-In, First-Out) timely and accurately according to the Group's accounting policies and instructions given by finance colleagues.
  • Contribute to sales tax filings for our US operations
  • Guide AP team in the partnership with the Controllership team to check missing POs (Purchase Orders) and invoices
  • Post released invoices and correct errors, if any
  • Partner with Procurement, Sourcing, and Inventory Management teams to provide gold standard customer service to our vendors, providing them accurate and timely answers on their requests
  • Liaise with the Controllership and FP&A teams to help bridge the gap between transactions and the realized business outcomes
  • Maintain and improve internal processes and routines based on group accounting policies and introduce new processes/improvements as deemed appropriate
  • Participate in physical inventory counts at the fulfillment centers in the US as needed

Who you will work with:


You will interact with the global Marley Spoon finance team, especially the centralized accounting shared service center team based in Lisbon, Portugal.

Additionally, you will work side-by-side with our fulfillment center (FC) support teams, in New Jersey, Texas and California, to support a variety of topics ranging from procurement to inventory management, helping bridge the gap between finance and daily FC operations.


Requirements:

An individual with:

  • A few years of relevant work experience in Finance, Accounting and/or Controllership functions
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • Public Accounting experience a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Business Central or Microsoft Navision preferred
  • Experience in consumer products/manufacturing environments preferred
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment where change is constant
  • Exceptional analytical skills and clear communication style
  • Eye for detail while being able to take a step back and understand the bigger picture
  • Proactive, solutionoriented problem solver
  • Ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization, including individuals outside of the finance function
  • Availability to work in overlapping hours with US
