Job title:
General Manager Assistant

Job Purpose


To manage the Restaurant in the absence of the General Manager and to support the management team in providing outstanding service standards.

To develop a team in which each individual member works together to maximise profit


Your roles:

  • To maximise the success of the operation by ensuring the provision of outstanding standards of customer service throughout the restaurant.
  • To ensure the goals of the Restaurant operation are achieved through effective and costeffective management and development of human resources within the Restaurant team.
  • To achieve individual tasks and projects through people, taking specific responsibility for the development of the management team to meet current and future needs. To interview and recruit new team members up to the position of Waiter according to the criteria specified for each role.
  • To assist the Restaurant Manager in identifying training requirements within the Restaurant team, and to ensure appropriate and quality onjob training is provided and recorded.
  • To ensure that disciplinary and grievance procedures are followed precisely in liaison with the Restaurant Manager and the HR department.
  • To assist the Restaurant Manager in carrying out annual appraisals and regular performance reviews. To recognise outstanding performance and the contribution of individuals and groups of individuals to team objectives.
  • To ensure the smooth running of the restaurant in line with standards established by the Restaurant and Bar, the company, and the law.
  • To ensure the accurate and timely communication of all information to ensure the smooth operation of the department, and to ensure that opportunities for improvement can be analysed and executed.
  • To establish a close connection with the Head Chef and Sous Chefs regularly regarding menus, food sales and opportunities for improvements to overall customer service.
  • To ensure full opening and closing procedure is adhered to.
  • To ensure accurate cash handling and accounting procedures are followed by all staff within the Restaurant.
  • To be fully conversant with the computerised systems involved in the Restaurant operation. To be fully conversant with operational systems and procedures and pass on constructive suggestions to senior managers.
  • To ensure a safe environment is maintained for customers, staff and suppliers.
  • To maintain a daily management log for the accurate communication of events and problems to other managers.
  • To attend internal or external training courses as required.
  • To be fully conversant with, and ensure the Restaurant team complies with, liquor licensing legislation and security policies.
  • To ensure the department meets statutory requirements for Risk Assessment standards and that staff are trained on procedures which minimise the risk of injury, illness and damage in the Restaurant.
  • To ensure that all staff maintain high standards of personal hygiene, and that individuals and the operation meet food safety standards.
  • To have advance knowledge of the Engligh language. Other languages will be considered a plus.
