    The position

    The Sensor Development Engineer position is open at HBK FiberSensing in Maia, Portugal, a HBK company specialized in the development and production of advanced monitoring systems based on optical Fiber Bragg Grating technology.

    HBK FiberSensing provides integrated solutions and world-leading expertise on Fiber Optic Sensing, with special focus on structural health monitoring.

    We are looking for a technology-driven Sensor Development Engineer professional to work on the design, prototype implementation and testing of fiber Bragg grating based sensors.

    You will be joining a highly motivated R&D team in a dynamic and exciting workspace. We believe in teamwork, and we encourage each other to have open discussions and take ownership of our work.

    The role is based in our HBK FiberSensing office and allows freedom under responsibility to structure and plan your daily work.

    This role can be hybrid remote or onsite.
    Primary responsibilities
    As Sensor Development Engineer, your main areas of responsibility will be:
    Develop sensor designs according to sales and customer specificationsDesign, implementation, testing and documentation of sensor prototypes from proof-of-concept to final productsEvaluation and definition of components, suppliers and manufacturing processesContribute to the preparation of technical documentationProvide training and technical support to internal teams and customersStay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologiesMaster's degree in Mechanical Engineering/Physics Engineering or similarGood technical skills in system integration and basic programmingKnowledge on SolidWorks and Creo CAD softwareSome experience from a similar role is highly desiredKnowledge on Instrumentation and Fiber Optic Sensing is a plusFluent in English both written and spokenPersonal skills
