The Analytics, Monitoring & Diagnostics (M&D) Center Area, as part of the Digital Unit
EDP's Generation Platform, is leading the predictive maintenance journey on
EDP's Iberian generation assets.

The M&D Center is using AI models built on top of telemetry data from the power plants to promote operational excellence, avoiding efficiency losses and foster streamlined maintenance processes, getting ahead of failures.

This team is a central part in a digital transformation journey, bringing intelligence and automation to the core of Asset Management and leveraging Advanced Analytics towards a data driven GenCo.

We are currently looking to recruit a Predictive Monitoring Expert to reinforce our team M&D Center.


Work Place:
Lisbon or Oporto or Oviedo.


Main responsibilities:

  • Monitor the performance and asset condition to drive efficient operations and early detection of potential failures under development on our assets using AI predictive models;
  • Process the alerts generated by those models alongside with other business areas engaging our network of SMEs whenever required: sort, prioritize, diagnose the underlying causes and disposition;
  • Raise cases from the alerts to followup relevant topics with our power plants and get traction to address all opportunities identified ensuring we are capturing the whole value from the predictive monitoring approach;
  • Update the analytic templates used to build the predictive models to promote a good coverage of failure modes on our assets under monitoring, avoiding false negative indications;
  • Ensure all the models are up to date in terms of training data to get the balance right between a low rate of false negative indications without increasing too much the false positive rate;
  • Watch out for data gaps, pinpoint sensor issues, and ensure all the models are up and running, avoiding false negative indications;
  • Promote the adoption of the best practices for predictive asset monitoring within the Generation Platform.

Looking for people with the following requirements:

  • Degree / Master in Electrical Engineering or similar;
  • 35 yrs of relevant experience is required;
  • Engineering, commissioning or O&M experience on hydro and/or thermal power plants is valued;
  • Specific knowledge in interpreting electrical tests to further elaborate on recommendations as a must: ground continuity, insulation resistance, leakage, winding resistance, absortion/polarization index;
  • Experience with Partial Discharge monitoring systems is highly preferred;
  • IT Tools: SAP-PM module as CMMS, PI System (PI ProcessBook, PIVision, PI DataLink, PI AF), APM (Asset Performance Management) solutions applicable for generation assets, Advanced Analytic Tools (Seeq) and BI Tools (MS Power BI);
  • Highly independent and selfinitiated to learn as a must with a continuous improvement mindset;
  • Critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and strong problemsolving skills to thrive on alert processing & case management;
  • Results oriented mindset to be proactive towards value capture from the predictive monitoring approach;
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement, networking and influencing skills to build a robust partnership with our internal clients and network of partners;
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English, Spanish (valued) with strong communication skills;
  • Teamwork skills to nurture a healthy work environment and be able to learn from and work with experienced coworkers.
