Data Scientist

Mission

The Galp center of excellence for data science & monetization is searching for a data scientist to help us to achieve real impact and innovative data analytics solutions to our business units.

This opportunity offers a wide exposer to multiple business challenges and simultaneously to test and develop multiple modelling techniques benefiting from world class analytical capabilities.

Working inside Galp Data Office offers the possibility to learn with other data disciplines and though daily corporate support to other Data Scientist teams the chance to learn and share best practices for Data Science development.

Simultaneously be prepared to be exposed to state-of-the-art data modelling techniques and to search continually for business impact while increasing your data and business competences.

During this experience account for a challenging environment but also with support and autonomy to continually grow your capabilities

What you'll do- Guide the company towards best practices in data science;

Run POCs and MVPs to investigate and prove the feasibility and benefits of the proposed use cases, variables and hypotheses analysis;
Together with Galp BU's and other Technical Teams support on the ideation, development, presentation, monitorization and knowledge share of data product with business material impact;
Support the creation of a new data culture within the organization;
Be an ambassador of the data strategy and data science principles within the organization.

What you'll need

Master of science in a quantitative field (data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, physics or equivalent);
Have +3 years of relevant experience in implementing data science / AI / ML / DL models and algorithms, and knowledge of statistics and machine learning methods;
Experience in more than one dataoriented scripting language such as Python, R and libraries such as Scikit learn, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch or similar;
General knowledge in cloud and experience of relational databases, including SQL;
Knowledge of data analytics trends and data technologies;
Advanced analytical skills and business experience;
Excellent data manipulation and analysis skills;
Eager to continuous learning and good at storytelling;
Ability to explain complex data issues in nontechnical terms;
Clarity and precision in strategic thinking, problem solving, verbal and written communication;
Have diplomacy and negotiation skills;
Good team player, able to collaborate and openly debate with internal teams to execute projects, solve problems and discuss challenges
